Harper Mountain Ski Club is currently seeking a part-time ski instructor for the 2023 winter season (January-March). This position is on Sundays during the ski season from 9:00am- 2:00 pm. Harper Mountain is located only 20 minutes from Kamloops with over 400 acres of power filled terrain. This is a perfect opportunity for students with manageable weekend hours and the opportunity to work in an inclusive, positive work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Train youth alpine skiers under the Nancy Greene Ski league teaching methodology and the Harper Mountain Ski Clubs training plans
-Help evolve, teach and develop basic ski skills and safety
-Work co-operatively with other coaches and program coordinator to develop youth alpine ski skills
-Plan lessonand trainings that help inspire a fun and safe experience for youth members
-Take appropriate action to deal with emergencies or incidents that may arise as outlined in the Harper Mountain Ski Club policies and procedures
Position Requirements:
-Strong skiing abilities (being able to confidently ski/ride chair lifts for 5-6 hours)
-Experience working with children and youth in an organized setting (e.g. coaching, schools, summer camps)
-CSIA level 1 preferred, but will provide training for the right candidate Knowledge and/or experience on downhill alpine ski racing

Criminal Record Checks:
All employees are required to have criminal record checks at Harper Mountain Ski Club. Due to the nature of the work in dealing and interacting with children and youth, it is imperative that these checks are done. It I the responsibility of the employee to provide a current criminal and vulnerable sector record check from the RCMP.
